What to pack for a luxury walking trip in Ireland
Packing for Ireland means packing for two different things: days outside in changeable weather, and evenings somewhere lovely.
For walking
Waterproof walking boots, properly broken in before you arrive. A genuinely waterproof, breathable jacket and waterproof trousers. Two or three moisture-wicking base layers and a warm fleece or light insulated jacket. Walking socks — more pairs than you think. A small daypack with a rain cover, a water bottle, sunglasses and sunscreen (yes, really). A warm hat and light gloves, even in summer.
For evenings
Something you feel good in for dinner. Comfortable shoes that aren't boots. A swimsuit for spa and sauna time.
What you can leave behind
Heavy luggage worries — it's moved for you between locations. Laptops. A detailed plan for every hour.
One tip
Pack in layers, not bulk. On a Beara day you may add and remove a layer several times before lunch.
